Well, this morning the first thing I heard when I got up was that one of the first graders from our little school died last night. He got sick on Wednesday and wasn't at school on Thursday or Friday, and he died during the night only two days after he started getting sick...his name was Jonathan and he was in my sister Melissa's class. So this morning we went to his funeral. Very sad.
Another sad thing was that a few days ago one of Marta's former foster girls from a few years ago was killed...so its been a sad week for this family.
Apart from those tragedies, a lot of good things have happened this week. On Tuesday I went to church with my "sister" Nancy and her family and I really liked it a lot. They were very welcoming and the pastor talked to me for a long time and introduced me in the service. I will probably go back there on Tuesday and Thursday nights...on Sunday I will go to Joel's church because it is very close to here as well. On Wednesday I went with a pastor and another intern to a feeding program and we served lunch to 150 kids. Friday we went to a women's shelter and brought along nail polish and hair stuff and make-up and had a "spa day" with them. After that all the interns went to Joel's house for a barbecue and games. That was also fun and a nice change from the usual.
Another good thing that happened this week was that Marta found a new kindergarten teacher, so I will now be the helper instead of the only teacher. Definitely a relief.
Our trip to Honduras got cancelled...actually it got postponed till after I leave. :) At times I wish I was staying longer than only three and a half more weeks. Its going by really fast.
My prayer requests would be for health and safety--I have been fairly healthy so far besides a cold/cough that I'm just starting to get over.
